1959 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Additional Info:
This 1959 Volkswagen Type 1 Beetle-based dune buggy was acquired by prevous seller in 2017.
The manufacturer of the fiberglass buggy body is not known, but the build appears nicely detailed and finished throughout.
Prevous seller indicated new Valspar acrylic urethane enamel paint. Although the chassis came from a 1959 VW Beetle donor car, the prevous seller indicates a later 1.6-liter dual-port Type 1 engine is installed. Going by the provided photos, the engine appears to be an aftermarket build, likely with some performance parts.
The engine and undercarriage appear show-car clean, with not even surface oxidation observed in the photos. This dune buggy’s cabin is neatly trimmed and detailed. The race-style bucket front seats have belts, not always a given in such builds. “Cool factor” details include the classic-era Corvette gas filler door, the VDO Royale vintage-face gauges, and EMPI shifter. The Pioneer stereo head unit and speakers have been nicely integrated into a custom console.
