I have owned this Arizona van for 40 years. It was my only car for the first 20, but lately I have been driving it less often and have decided to let it go. Original paint, never restored, just kept running all these years. 25 years ago I built a Gene Berg 78 x 88 engine with new case, Gene Berg forged counterweighted crank, semi-hemi heads, dual Kadrons, 4 quart sump, etc. See the receipts. I've put about 15,000 miles on it since then. It's a strong runner, I go up hills in fourth I used to have to downshift for. Quality rebuilt transmission installed in 2008. It likes to mark it's spot; engine and transmission both leak oil, mostly from the axle boots and oil screen cover plate. Lights, horn, signals, wipers all work, but it's still 6 volt so pretty dim compared to modern headlights. There is some rust perforation in the back floor near the doors and some repaired rust in the front floor, otherwise only minor surface rust. The interior is tattered but relatively complete. Newer Wolfsburg West original style seat upholstery up front.I would think this would be a good candidate for a full restoration or a resto-rod. Or just drive it as it is, it's a fun car, and the patina is free. You are welcome to come to see and drive this VW before your purchase....so offer with confidence, ask questions..., and request any additional pictures that you need, thanks for looking!
