1970 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Additional Info:

1970 Karmann Ghia custom Coupe. Patina’d desert survivor, well known around the streets of Tucson. Its prior long-term owner customized it and commuted in it for years. It was then adopted by a doctor who took her young kids for short rides. I adopted it about two years ago after walking by it with my dog when she was selling it, and have used it gently, about 500 miles total, mostly to take the dogs for coffee and to the park.

Surf/desert/California theme, many whimsical touches, most are visible in pictures. Original paint, “distressed” dash, custom upholstery, embroidered headliner. Craig 8-track player mounted under the dash, speakers mounted in a briefcase behind the rear seats, two cases of 8-track tapes.

Mostly stock running gear. Slightly lowered, EMPI shifter, electric fuel pump, LED headlights. Stock wheels under the custom hubcaps. Serviced for many years at Chirco Performance. Fully rebuilt stock spec engine at Chirco less than 1000 miles ago. I have continued to have routine maintenance performed by Chirco. Mileage shows about 47K but I imagine that is has rolled over (at least once) - TMU. Chirco service department know the car and can answer more specific questions.

Many cosmetic imperfections - you could call them flaws but I think they are true patina. Completely solid and rust-free except for desert surface corrosion (see pictures). There are small rust spots on the floors and by the battery. Driver’s floor appears to have been reinforced from above by the prior owner with a screwed-in sheet metal overlay.

Runs and drives wonderfully. VW-reliable. Gets more smiles than maybe any other car I’ve owned, especially when there’s a dog in the passenger seat (that’s Hershey in the first pic, our beloved Cocker Spaniel who’s since crossed the Rainbow Bridge).

I am shrinking a small car collection due to space and time constraints. Hoping it is adopted by someone who appreciates it as it is and will keep it original and enjoy it. Low (I think) reserve. Glad to answer questions. I can send a google photo gallery with many more pictures on request (Ebay will not allow the link to be added here).
