1955 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Additional Info:

This classic and rare oval window has been owned by the current owner for over 35 years and is full of potential.
It was covered outside for about 10 of those years, and garaged the rest of the time, which is the reason for the rust. No rust has gone through.
Was a show car when I got it, but had a 2180 cc engine that was blown up and non-1955 fenders/lights, etc. I put the 1600 cc engine in, replaced fenders/lights, etc. with originals. Never got around to repainting it. The transmission was put in by the previous owner to go with the engine size, for racing. I no longer remember the details of that. So the car shifts a lot faster than a typical 1600 cc.
-Made in Western Germany around May/June 1955 (original VIN plate in spare tire well)-True mileage unknown-Polished Porsche alloys (rear passenger rim is missing the center cap)
-Front disc brakes, rear drums
-Front tires are tubes 145/15 (one of the tires has a slow leak, but holds air for a couple days), rear tires tubeless 165/15
-Lowered with a kit
-Chrome firewall and tins
-12 volt wiring/battery
-Engine lid missing the spring to hold it open
-Dual exhaust (pitting on chrome tips)
-Engine rubbers, etc. replaced about 10 years ago for daily driving, then didn't have time to drive it anymore. Sat in garage and the gas line deteriorated and needs to be replaced. Ran great, shifted great.
-Custom tan leather/fabric seats and door panels
-Interior: No tears in headliner/seats. No carpet (original was oatmeal/tan, so accents have original carpet).
-Rear seat: I didn't have a rear seat back. That area was filed with box bass speakers. I had an extra rear seat back from a 1967, so I just set that in there. You can have it. (There are a couple of tears in the upper part of the seat, where it rounds over to the back of the seat)
-VDO oil-pressure gauge added under dash
-Gauges all work. No radio.
-JSC shifter (chrome is pitted)
-Speedometer is both MPH & KM with 5 digit odometer
-Driver side sun visor (original "see through")
-Ivory colored steering wheel and knobs
-Wolfsburg crest steering wheel
-Windows: Rear windows tinted (California-legal at the time it was done). Driver door window wing-The handle/lock came unglued. I have it & will give it to you. Passenger door window wing- chrome is pitted. All window glass is in good condition.
-Doors close perfectly
-If you want my VW towbar for an additional $50, you're welcome to it.
