This 1970 Volkswagen Beetle has been transformed into a steampunk-inspired open-wheel hot rod with obsessive attention to detail. The product of countless hours of specialized handcraftsmanship, this Beetle features a chopped-top roof and custom-detailed bodywork with a matching bare aluminum interior. Power comes from a 1600cc engine with twin-body Weber carburetors and the chassis is fitted with front disc brakes.This Beetle features an extended front bridge and a chopped-top roof with a forward cowl extension providing a unique and aggressive appearance. The bare metal bodywork is decorated with pinstripes and custom gold leaf graphics as well as metal suture details, drilled door handles, tubular side steps, a brass roof-mounted swamp cooler, a knuckle duster front hood ornament, and taillights borrowed from a 1959 Cadillac. It rides on slotted red-painted wheels with chrome hubcaps and whitewall tires.The bare metal cabin features custom handmade aluminum seats and door panels accented by custom pinstriping and copper details. Accessories include a custom three-spoke steering wheel, copper pipe door handles, a drilled aluminum passenger floorboard, a round rearview mirror and a custom steampunk-style tachometer with exposed watch gears.Power comes from a 1,600cc flat-four VW engine with twin-body Weber carburetors and a handcrafted exhaust. The rear wheels are driven through a close-ratio 4-speed manual gearbox. Stopping power comes from front disc brakes and rear drums. Zero rust and treated against corrosion. Titled and registered and drives as any normal 70's beetle would.
