1972 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Additional Info:
This is a 1972 S Code Special Edition Commemorating 15 Million Beetles produced to that year. Also known as Championship SE, only 3000 were made, and this one is production line number 932. Not a clone, all numbers match. Original 91,680 miles. Solid body and undercarriage, undisturbed rust free car. Mostly original with the exception of electronic ignition and alternator conversion for reliability, plus aftermarket radio and rear box speakers. Dual Port 1600 engine runs very good, and doesn't burn or leak oil. 4 speed transmission shifts solid, with no free play, is very smooth, and zero noise. Original SE Marathon wheels, including spare. Lights, wipers work A OK. Sat for many years in a collector's warehouse until last year. I bought this car for my girlfriend but she doesn't want to drive manual transmission and I already have a '73 Beetle, so sadly, I cannot keep it and must go to a good owner. What it needs: At one point during its life it was repainted using the original Marathon blue color, and now paint has started to chip and crack at a few spots, but again, no rust. New rubber, (tires are old but not worn), alignment and some steering box adjustment. Front seats need refoaming and some leatherette sewing, but no missing chunks. Needs a new muffler and two air cabin vent hoses in the front. And yes, some much needed TLC,and be driven, but let me repeat, no rust at all. She's not perfect but well worth it. Expect to pay over well over 10K for a near perfect Bug, so no lowballing please. Car is located in Jacksonville Beaches area.
