1982 Volkswagen Rabbit Pickup Additional Info:
This 1982 Volkswagen Rabbit Pickup represents true distinction. It's a survivor-style truck that will appeal to you for more than just its preservation.
VW's Rabbit truck was a uniquely American idea that was built in the USA. So yes, not many people remember the Rabbit truck, and even fewer remember when the Rabbits were coming out of Pennsylvania. And it's this unique history that makes such an original example like this so endearing. The blue paint appears largely original. There is some fade and use that comes from 40+ years, but you will be quite impressed at how straight, clean, and bright the full package is. Part of this care is also because the low odometer is believed to represent the full mileage. Good glass, good rubber, complete trim, and clean steel bumpers (with a tow hitch on the rear) are all part of this attraction. What also makes it nice are the tasteful additions. You have a color-matched camper shell, and the painted orange pinstriping package is so comprehensive that it includes this bed topper, too. Plus, those VW-stamped "bottlecap" alloys are a terrific vintage and premium piece.
Just like the exterior, the interior is highly stock, and a lot of its preservation adds to the charm. Being based on the Rabbit gives you some desirable features, like nicely bolstered high-back bucket seats and a full car-like dash. But the sliding rear glass is pure old-school pickup handy.
The engine is a 1.7-liter four-cylinder and it even had a recent refresh with new plugs and wires. Those who know these Rabbits understand that the motor doesn't mean a speed demon, but it does mean added utility. So it really will haul the gear you need for anything from camping to being the support vehicle for your classic Beetle. And the four-speed manual transmission, nimble handling, power brakes, and front discs make this an engaging driver.
The sale comes complete with the owner's manual packet. There's a lot of potential in this Rabbit pickup. Quite frankly, we already just like it for what it is - a distinct yet honest version of a classic that not everyone remembers ever existed. Call today!!!
