People did not really know what they were doing while working on the car, n regards of body work. the body have to be lifted to bolt body to floor pan properly. They weld it and did some crazy things instead of doing the right work. It is in the shop second shop. They said because the work was done wrong it is cracking the nose and not very safe to drive long distance, o car has to be lifted to fix this issue before more damage is done the the body of the car. I spent a few hundreds getting the suspension adjusted, hecking breaks, mergency park break. Driver door needs new hinges and some body work on the bottom. Passenger door would also use new hinges. A few body work touch ups because cracked in a few places (due to shipper pushing the car instead of driving into the boat, ue to bad body work, tc) paint, nd it will look good. This is why they said about 6k, hat was the estimate I got from the shop. If you want a show stop car you can put 10k on it and it will be the best Brazilian Bug in the US. I am uploading a picture of the floor pan when the work was done so you can see what I am talking about. As well pictures of the car before it got shipped here and pictures of the inside dirty. There is a hanging wire on one of the picture, t was for the switch for the push start bottom. Already taken care. Converted back to universal switch under the dash.
The first shop was to fix the start, ecause customs cut the wires to the push start bottom and the car is very custom. I brought it to a place that the guys has been working on bugs for 40 years. He put an universal start on in, nder the dash and replace a few things on the engine because it was running in only 2 cylinders. Motor is perfect now, ith all work up to date. Electrical is perfect. I spent about 2k on it.
I know if someone take the car and do it right it will be worth a lot of money as there are not many Brazilian bugs in the US. I was crazy bringing it here.It looked super nice and people got too curious about it. It was at the port in Panama waiting for the second ship for 10 days and I am guessing people drove around and messed a few things up as well.
