Title says 1970 but that is just the part of the pan where the stamped # are and the body. There are parts from about every year as I hunted dead VW's to build this from the ground up.
"New" VW speedo when rebuilt so shows less than 1000 +/- since rebuilt.
This VW was amazingly STREET LEGAL in the state of Missouri. I drove it for fun all over. Drove it to go off roading>>> no need to trailer!
Now the Bad. It needs a paint job. Some pealing, orange peel, a little rust in spots. If the paint is better than you think, your bonus. Brakes need some work, needs bled again. Carb needs work/adjustment--doesn't idle slow, probable air leak--so I idle it up! Have new window frames for roll up that need one installed and one adjusted. If you own this you will need to have the patience to tinker.
Runs smooth (above idle) and is a blast to drive! The only reason I am selling is because we are moving. I have tons of money in this. Needs a new home with someone who is willing to tinker with it. It is a stiff ride and therefore a little noisey. Find a big hill and charge up it! Bus tranny will climb anything!
I will throw in a bunch of spare parts: including spare single port heads and manifold and such.
Have battery for starting-running, but the battery does not come with the car.
You will need to pick up or make arrangements for pickup.
Questions? I probably forgot something gladly answer any questions.
