1980 Volkswagen (VW) Vanagon L Westfalia Camper
This 1980 Volkswagen (VW) Vanagon L Westfalia Camper (Pop Top) in Assuan Brown (LH8B) (Assuanbraun) on “Gazelle EP” (light brown with multi coloured cubes) interior was manufactured in May of 1980 in Wiedenbrück, Germany. Westfalia is the top of the line package available for the Vanagon model and being a non smoker owned car, this car is odor free and in near excellent condition. This all original Westfalia is equipped with a strong 4 cylinder 2.0 litre (1970cc) air cooled, fuel injected engine, a smooth 4 speed manual transmission, new condition wheels and tires and every bell and whistle option available for it’s model and year.
21k original miles, purchased from the original owner in Modesto, CA. He is an elderly man and has been my tenant for several years. Due to declining health and old age he unfortunately was not able to continue enjoying it so he stored the car in a covered garage until about a year ago when I purchased it from him. This is a California car and has absolutely no rust. During my ownership I had the van fully serviced by my lifelong mechanic in Menlo Park, CA. Service records for maintenance completed under the original owner ranging from the beginning of his ownership all the way up until I took possession of the vehicle are all available in an organized, labeled folder and included with the sale. Both invoices for the most recent work I had completed along with the passing SMOG check form for the car are pictured below in the photo gallery.
Car runs smooth and is extremely clean inside and out and truly portrays responsible, collector level ownership. Though there a few very small, minor blemishes, specifically a handle off of the door on the inside (not the door handle) came off when I mistakenly pulled on it too aggressively. However, that original piece will be included and is still in the vehicle glove box. The driver seat also has a small tear on the left side of it, please see picture in photo gallery below. Overall, the vehicle is in near excellent condition for it’s age and has been very well preserved to keep it in operable, original condition.
If you have read to this point, you know what you are looking it. I would rather not over explain the car due to strange sets of standards that some people have, kindly check all the pictures and ask any and all questions you may have before engaging in the bidding process. I respect and value all bidders and will do my best to answer your inquiries and questions promptly however, I reserve the right to eliminate all bids I don’t believe are legitimate or from a scammer. Keeping in consideration the condition and appreciation of this limited production Westfalia, I believe I have been very fair pricing the car and I would appreciate not to be asked about the reserve price. In addition, I will not accept any offers after the auction is terminated. Please be noted that I am not in a position to finance the vehicle and a deposit of $1000 is required immediately upon auction termination. The full, remaining balance is due within three days of the auction termination. Thank you kindly in advance for your attention and good luck!
