1974 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Additional Info:
Rare Autostick model in good working condition. I've owned the car for three years and put much time and money in to a light restoration to make the Ghia fully drivable. It's a blast around German Village and the Short North. There aren't many of these cars that haven't rusted out or been neglected, so I hope a future air-cooled fan will continue to keep this car alive.

Engine:
All missing engine tin replaced or cleaned, installed new working thermostat. New alternator and carb set up for Autostick vacuum line. Fresh Rotella oil and plugs, lines, and points. Not the most horsepower you've driven, but keeps up well in city traffic and can even do a highway stint if you need. Drives an hour in the summer heat no problem.
Transmission:
Autostick is a very German contraption that uses combines an automatic with a clutch. There are two gears, slow (<40mph) and fast. When you press on the shift knob, it grounds a solenoid which pulls vacuum on a diaphragm which disengages the clutch. Select your gear, and the clutch smoothly engages. With a torque converter between the engine and transmission, you can stay in 1st at a stop. The system works as intended, is very smooth, and more enjoyable than manual when sitting in traffic.
Suspension:
New H-beam front suspension with fresh grease and bushings, stock ride height. New upper and lower front ball joints. Fresh front wheel bearings. New steering rack and steering rack bushing. Steering and suspension is tight, but supple.
Brakes:
New front rotors, pads, master cylinder with pressure switches, and recently flushed with new brake fluid. Rear rotors still have life in drum shoes. Brakes with confidence.
Body:
The previous owner painted the full car orange with no clear coat. While this took care of any imperfections, it was not a Concours job. In the sale I'll include a full vehicle seal set ($700) in case future plans mean respraying the entire car.
No significant visible rust. Floor pans are solid. I treated and repainted the chassis in front of the firewall when installing front suspension.
The rear bumper was in bad shape, but I purchased a good condition bumper and solid bumper brackets to be included with sale ($400).
Interior:
Replaced full carpet set and removed all old insulation to be replaced with Dynamat. New door cards. Seats re-foamed and reupholstered. Headliner has some holes and is not in great shape, but a new tweed headliner kit will be included ($165) to finish the job. The dash upper has some cracks, as does the face plate. A new faux wood grain face plate will be included. The dash top is ~$230, but not included.
Electrical:
Headlights, turn signals work. The reverse light of the transmission got into a tangle with the fan shroud and will need to be rewired. Interior lights work, but the clock gauge does not. Speedometer and fuel level work. There is a head unit installed, but I removed the old speakers when repaneling the doors.
