1971 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Additional Info:
Selling my 1971 VW Ghia Convertible. Clean title in my name - current CA registration through June 2019. Runs and drives Xlnt. $1500 just spent on mechanical item(have all receipts) - include replacement of Brake Wheel Cylinders, Brake Master Cylinder, Brake hoses, Steering Coupler, all Tie Rods as well as Inner and Outer Tie Rod ends. Work included rebuilding the stock Solex Carb along with full tune up including adjusting points/timing and Valve Adjustment. Compression Test completed - engine is very healthy with 140 PSI on all cylinders. Newer tires. Starts right up and shifts smooth with no grinding on shifts up or down. Headlights - brakelights - turn signals - ALL WORKING. Patina paint in it's original yellow color - straight body. Small dent on top of nose and driver door. A few rust areas but overall a very solid CA car. If you are intending to restore it will need a new top. Comes with car cover. This would be the perfect car to enjoy just the way it is - mechanically Xlnt - wonderful patina! Please let me know if you have any questions. You can call me anytime at (661)203-8472 but if you are on the East Coast please remember I'm in California. Thank you. As you can see the car has not been restored. I have tried to list the obvious items but I'm sure there are things I have left off. I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere. Very reasonable reserve - good luck! On Aug-05-18 at 17:05:53 PDT, seller added the following information:
*** Regarding the top: The top has the original front wood bow and wood piece in the rear of the top as well. The original glass is also present and not broken or cracked. The top material is completely torn. The top will go up and down as designed however comes up about 1" short of closing(presumably because the material is hard/dry and is preventing the top from fully extending. *** Regarding ownership: I have only owned for a short time. The person I bought it from owned it for about 8 years. I do not know the ownership history prior to that.
