1978 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Champagne Edition Additional Info:
Up for sale is our 1978 Volkswagen Bus / Type 2 / Westfalia / Westy / Campmobile. She has served us well for many years, road trips, and music festivals but alas, the time has come for her to move on a bring warmth and joy to another family.
Unfortunately, the mileage listed is not accurate, however eBay requires an entry. There is no way to know the mileage of this vehicle.
The good:
This is a nearly unmolested example of what a Champagne EditionCampmobile looks like. She still has all the snap in netting, never had an all around paint job (but there's one really suspect panel that is photographed) and the worst rot on her is documented at the front window in photographs.
She has a dent on the front clip behind the spare tire where the p/o rear-ended a car. She has some scrapes on the door where a Subaru gave her a little boxer-love-tap. She has assorted little rust bubbles here and there, but man, she is SOLID.
The Bad:
Because of circumstances beyond my control, I am unable to finish this job and must sell her asap. She don't run right now - there's some gremlin in the ignition where she turns over maybe once every thirty turns of the key, which has obviously caused a bit of a problem with setting the timing and getting her on the roll. There's literally nothing else keeping her from going, and could probably be taken to Archway or another of the shops nearby to get once'd over to drive home!
The Extras:
During our travels we discovered that... she's hot to sleep in, even with the beautiful valise windows open on both side. We made some awesome screens for the front door windows (driver and passenger) and a magnetic screen for the sliding door that lets you keep all of these doors (or windows) open to let a breeze through. They are life-saving when camping!
Also has new shocks all around, cv joints / half-shafts, newer tires, brand new, never-run 0 mile motor built with care by Archway Import Auto Parts, St. Louis' premiere air-cooled Volkswagen shop. New ball joints, a billion VW repair books, and every misc part I have for her will be included in the sale.
Please ask any questions that you feel I haven't covered!
