1963 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Additional Info:
This is a lovely, well mannered driver that needs a few things to finish her. The paint was done about 4 years ago by the previous owner and is a single stage. Paint is good overall but has some light fading. The car has great bones, including its floor. I cannot tell if the floor is original or the entire pan was replaced. Both front fenders have paint damage. Drivers side needs body work if you want it perfect. Previous owner saw this car with trim and bumpers removed in one of those VWs magazines. Believe the color is or close to Dove Blue.
It has a 1200 CC air-cooled motor but not the original motor. Motor has good compression in all 4 cylinders and I added a totally rebuilt Solex carburetor . This carb was rebuilt by Volkzbit, an awesome Company out West. The carb comes to you like a piece of art. The car starts with turn of the key, foot off the gas. Brakes were totally redone and it had some driver's side/front suspension work. Turn signals do not work, I believe the switch needs to be cleaned or replaced. Horn is in-op and probably needs contacts cleaned (I may see to this). Headlights work. New gas tank installed. Gas gauge in-op. Tires have great tread.
Interior has new seat cushions and upholstery, new carpet and door panels. Top needs to be replaced as well as headliner. Included in this sale is a Stay Fast Canvas top in dark blue, and new headliner in off white. Old headliner has been removed and is down to metal. Back window and both rear windows need to be removed and then replaced once headliner is installed. Included are 3 new window seals. My guy would install headliner and canvas top for $750.00. That price is me removing/replacing windows. The driver/passenger have new window seals professionally installed. All glass is VG. There are some fine whitish marks (like over spray) on the dash that may come out with some rubbing compound. The radio is incorrect for the car although looks good. Car is still 6 Volt and believe radio is 12 volt. Someone installed a converter but I have not looked into it. Steering wheel shows wear.
Nice Bug that is getting harder to find with the cool sunroof. Sunroof mechanism works well, some surface rust on metal easily cleaned when top is removed.
Shipping is your responsibility. I am happy to work with your shipper.

I bought this car from an older gentleman . He took all the trim and bumpers off the car and then had the car painted by a friend in the business. This is a fun, dead simple, 1963 VW Rag-Top. I did the carpe, upholstery and door panels. It is very presentable and comfortable for little jaunts.
If you are new to classic VWs, the most important thing to look for when buying one is RUST. The motors can easily be repaired or rebuilt.
This car comes with a 1200cc engine, the original size from the factory. Many people replace this engine with a 1600cc engine or higher CC engine. Most people change would guess if you have all the work the car to a 12 Volt system versus the 6 volt this car has. Great little car for around town but not a fast car.
I would estimate if you have all the work I mention above by professional shops it will cost about $2200. Most of that goes (1200 or more) to the headliner, new top install, and removal/replacement of rear of 3 windows. Although I'm patient I would never try to replace the rag-top myself.
