1979 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Epilogue / Epilog - Triple Black - Rare Additional Info:
You are bidding on a true, RARE, 1979 VW Convertible Epilogue / Epilog Convertible with a little over 10k miles on the odometer. THIS IS THE LAST YEAR OF THE ICONIC CLASSIC VW and is a rare triple black - only available in this year. Apparently there were less than 1,000 of these sold in the final year (79/80) so has collector car potential.
I am not the original owner of the car, so I cannot confirm total lifetime miles, but I would assume that this car has rolled the odometer over once due to the age of the car. I have too many projects right now, so I would like to pass this car along to someone interested in returning the car to it's condition in 1979. I am not a mechanic, but this car would make a great candidate for a full restoration - see pictures of underneath. There is no rot or major rust - I am based here in SoCal (Burbank, CA) and I was told byprevious owner that it spent many years in the San Diego area. Also see that this is not a respray to black - see the original Schwarz L 041 paint code sticker - a true Epilog/triple black vehicle.
Please note - I am not a dealer, just a private party seller and VW lover. As such, there is no warranty and there will be no returns for any reason. As noted in the conditionsection, this is a 30+ year old car and anyone who buys should expect that there will be paint issues, blemishes, and little dings and dents. The dash also has a plastic dash cover on it. Please look at all pictures closely and ask any and all questions in advance. Note - the glovebox door is slightly faded lighter than rest of faux wood dash. Just a heads up. Buyer to pay all shipping costs - and shipping will not take place until funds received. Buyer also responsible for any and all related taxes as well as responsibility for registering in their state of residence.
Things I have done to the vehicle since purchase:New mufflerNew BatteryReturned engine back to original fuel injection (winning bidder can also receive the carb parts that were onthe car when I received it)New ClutchBrake Adjustment/ Tune UpRegistered as an operatingCalifornia car - see pic of active plate
Winning bidder will also receive some additional items such as a roof hinge cover (white plastic), tool kit, other various small parts/pieces I had when I received the car.
Thanks for looking - and good luck with bidding! Also note, if you are interested, you can also purchase now.
