1974 Volkswagen Other Additional Info:
Meyes Manx Style Dune Buggy, its not a manx buggy just a look a like. Engine and frame are from a 1974 VW Beetle. Registered as a street legal assembled vehicle from 2008 in the state of Michigan with title. Excellent running dual port 1600cc engine with newer 1641 top end and Tri-Miles exhaust with spark arrester. Body is in Excellent condition and very well built. Tilt GM steering column. Has front and rear bumpers as well as side rails. Starts, runs, drives, and shift very well with new positive reverse lock installed. Independent rear suspension. Front tires are 215 R14 and the rear are 325 R15 tires. I have put about $750 or so into new parts in this buggy including the following:
Brake system completely rebuilt.
--Master brake cylinder ($50)
--Replaced front drums to disc brakes with new pads and rotors ($250)
--New front brake lines
--New rear brake lines
--Rear drum bake shoes and brake pistons, plus springs and hardware ($50)
--Brand new front tires purchased from Discount Tires ($200)
--New 4 point harness on both seats ($100)
--New positive lock reverse plate
--New speedometer cable
--Used speedometer with operating speedometer and odometer. Current odometer reading is not original.
--New fuel screen for fuel tank
Overall buggy runs great, but does still need some work. I would say buggy is 90-95% complete. Works and drives as is, but does need some wiring work and light work. Headlights, brake and turn signals are installed, but do not work. Previous owner did not do a very good job of wiring and wiring looks a little like a spiderweb mess. I drove it 2 miles at up to 45 mph on Feb 27. Will need an oil change at some point, but only takes 2.5 quarts of oil. I also have videos of it driving and running if you would like to see those I can email them to you.
I can include new parts that I have not installed yet which includes:
--Electric RPM gauge that fits current hole in dash
--Oil pressure sensor and guage
--Fuel quantity guage and sender unit
--4 brand new hard hydraulic lines
--2 flexible hydraulic lines
--5 lug nuts with studs
--Brake pedal return spring
Clear and clean title. LOCAL pickup only or you can drive it away as is or you arrange shipping, however driving it longer distances is your own discression. I have only driven it up to 25 miles. I will except PayPal or Cash in hand, but NO checks or money orders. $500 deposit is requires within 48 hour the balance is due in 7 days. Please email if you have any more question or need any specific pictures that are no already listed. I know what this is worth even if it just for spare parts. I am trying to down size my collection of toys.
I wouldn't minding trading straight up for a 2014 or newer Suzuki TU250x or consider any trade for motorcycles newer than 2010. Let me know what you have and we'll see what we can do.
