1967 Double Door, Rag Top, Walk through, Deluxe bus. I have only seen one other bus like this for sale and it went for just over 100K. I have way more money in this bus than I will get out of it at this stage. But family comes first.
What has been done and what will come with the bus.
-All metal work finished by professional shop in Colorado Springs around 10K. I had all the grabbers for the headliner replaced as well. All the pieces come with the bus including all doors (fitted with new hinge screws), brace for steering column, rear apron and both side window frames. (No bumpers or seats)
-All bodywork is finished by professional body shop in Colorado Springs. The bus is ready for final blocking and paint. It has been blocked twice and it’s very straight 11K
- I was going to paint it back factory color beige gray and titan red the bottom side and the engine compartment was first seam sealed then painted so that front and rear suspension could be put on. (If you wanted it painted these colors I can have the same shop finish the paint job for an additional 6K)
-Front and rear suspension is adjustable with 944 Porsche wilwood, drilled and slotted disk breaks with stainless lines on all four corners and a new freeway flyer transmission. Front and rear suspension came from Vintage V-Dub out of California 8K.
-Front, rear and all side windows are stainless steal pop-outs and come with all the seals and hardware. Bought from EIS parts and still in the original boxes. 3K
-I have both an original rag top frame and a complete new rag top frame with all the hardware from Grump’s Metal out of Huntington’s beach Ca. still in the original box. 2K for just the new frame set.
-Complete custom-made deluxe belt-line trim molding also from Grump’s Metal Still in the original box. 2K
-I also paid a local shop specializing in VW restoration fit all the doors, rag top frame, all the windows, belt-line trim, and all seat brackets on the floor. Another 5K.
I have most if not all the receipts for the parts listed. As you can see I was cutting no corners with this bus. All and all I’m about 54k into this project. I know what it will cost to finish the bus and I don’t expect to recover all my money but I will not give it away. This is an easy finish and I have no doubt it will be a 100k bus when finished. I know I’m going to take a beating on it but please don’t call me and ask if I will take 10k for it the answer will be no. I have about 80 additional pic of the bus I can email
NOT INCLUDED IN THE AUCTION but can be purchased separately. I have a new 2179-stroked engine that would be a really nice fit for this bus. The engine has the Bernie Bergmann Porsche fan induction kit with new, real Italian Webber 44mm carbs. I have 7K in this engine setup.
NOT INCLUDED IN THE AUCTION but can be purchased separately. I have a short middle seat for a 67 bus with original upholstery in salt and pepper no tears and in very good condition.
