1970 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Additional Info:
In this Auction I have a 1970 Volkswagen Bug with a 1600 Dual Port Engine with a Semi Automatic IRS Transmission. There is no Clutch pedal, it is has Low, 1st and Second Forward Gears with a Reverse. With this model you let off the gas, shift then press the gas pedal to go. See pictures as there is only a brake next to the gas pedal. Very few were made with an autostick transmission. The parts are still available as there was a recent Clutch and throw out bearing replaced in 2017, repair was $500. The interior has been gone through which in in excellent shape as it does appear to be new! Floors are all solid, this classic is from California. I purchased the car this past Summer in Amherst N.Y. Never seen a winter here in N.Y. as the car was taken off the road Oct. 2017. This car has brand new Tires front and back, New brakes, New Drums, and all new internals under the Drums, New Brake Hoses. Brakes need to be bled out as the I had the braided hoses replaced in the front from the Brake resavior to the newer Master Cylinder. The car will need a little TLC as this Transmission runs off vacuum and Electric to shift. The Vacuum lines need to be replaced which is very inexpensive on e-bay for $35.00 The Car Starts and runs great but will not idle down -Solution I purchased a Brand New 1600 Dual port Carb, brand new still in the box last month which will be included with the car. I have an open registration, as 1972 and before are registrations here in N.Y. If you can bleed the brakes, replace a single bbl carb and replace some vacuum lines, then you would have a really nice classic to drive around. These tasks are really easy, I just don't have the time. Great winter task for the summer, less the a few hours, you would have a great car to either drive or fix to sell in the spring for more money. This car will need to be towed or transported as the brake system needs to be bled as there is air in the lines. Easy task. Car is sold as is condition, no warranty as to the age.
Transmission- As described in the auction, Does the transmission shift or Does the gears work, Yes! When I first bought it, the car shift into every gear as I borrowed a dealers plate took for a ride. This model you have to start off in low, then first then 2nd. The car shifted in every gear which the engine had plenty of power. Even reverse worked. As time went by, I noticed the vacuum lines were the wrong style- Vw braided lines must be used for replacement- There are on ebay. I do have a brand new Vacuum Canister that operates the transmission too, I was going to replace that as well, 3 bolts and a pin clip. The Car starts, runs great, new Carb is included. I have replaced the spark plugs and spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor. this car is a very clean car from California! The undercarriage- Floor boards are solid so is the frame and body.
Interior pics- the door panel was taken off in the picture to see if a radio speaker could be installed, i have the Door panel, has been installed. Over all the interior is in really nice shape.
Mileage on the car will be added today- Any questions or offers, send them..
NOTE: This VW is solid, it will need to be hauled as the brakes need bleeding.! Too cold here in Western New York to bleed these brakes. Transporter can easily push this car on a hauler-or winch it on. If you are in NY to Ohio- I may have a friend that would deliver less than a hauler would charge.
Transportation: You must transport this car, can not be driven as the brakes need to be bled. It's the buyers responsibility to arrange shipping. I will assist by being here when transporter come pick up the car. If you are in New York State- I may have a friend deliver the car. but the car must be paid in full and cleared.
Paypal: A $250. deposit must be paid. Wire transfer is fine, cash in person. Bank Cashier check, But it must clear 2 weeks before car will be transferred.
