1985 Volkswagen Cabriolet convertible
84,000 original miles with a 5 speed transmission
Titan Red with tan cloth interior with tan top.
I purchased this Cabriolet in September from a Facebook ad. The gentleman I purchased the car from, it had been a weekend car for he and his wife. After his wife died the car sat unused for 4 years. This is where I came in. After purchasing the car I cleaned it and took it to German Auto Tech in Jonesboro to get it running again.
The following is the work they did: drain the fuel tank, purge and clean the fuel system, replace the fuel pressure pump, fresh tune up with wires, caps, plugs and rotor, upper fuel line and fresh oil and filter.
New tires from Purcell Goodyear
After getting the car running and driving it had a bad exhaust leak. Mid South Auto in Jonesboro replace the cracked cast iron manifold with a new performance exhaust header and made some repairs to the system.
The car is an early 85 . Original Titan red, it had an exterior respray some time ago in factory color. The paint was extremely faded. I had it detailed but was not able to get a gloss out of the paint. It has more of a matte finish. There are some scratches on the car with a spot on the trunk and hood that are deep.
The interior is original, Tan cloth seats with tan top. The top appears to be the original, it has some splits above the rear window I have sealed with tape. The seats are in good condition with no tears but it does show some wear. The carpet is stained from years of use and could use a good cleaning or replacement. It will need a new top at some point but is functional
The car does still need some attention. It could use front struts, the front window gasket is cracked and will need replacement and there is a power steering leak. it looks like its coming from the rack and pinion unit.
My hobby is rescuing classic VW's, mostly early Bus' and bringing them back. time for a new project! Please email with questions and I will gladly assist with shipping if needed
I have driven the car about 500 miles since getting it operational with no issues. car shifts well and is fun to drive
