Recently restore VW convertible. Most of the parts have been replaced with new anything that was in good working order was completely cleaned and painted. Body off restro. Below is the short list of major components:
Wiring harness, fuel tank, full interior, floor pans, tires, full braking system with upgraded disk in front, all new suspension i.e. shocks, ball joints, struts, bushings, aftermarket radio, tires, rubber seals, steering wheel, dash, new paint.
The engine is not original rather a single port 1967 thru 1970 engine #HO331078. I did not rebuild the engine however I did replace the carburetor, wires, plugs, point/condenser, intake, and adjusted all the valves. Also ran a compression test resulting in all cylinder meeting spec. The engine is strong and starts great.
Some of the things that still need to be done or purchased. Sun visor, needs a spare tire, the top will keep rain out but needs to be replaced, odometer works speedometer does not. I think it could be fixed. Air box needs to be installed, spend $1000 and this car will be new.
The heater tubes from the engine to the interior need to be purchased and install. I never planned on putting them on being here in Texas.
This is a great little car for someone to purchase at below market, finish it up and flip. Or better yet keep and drive. The price is far below market value in any area on the country. I am retiring next year so the money is more important than the car at this point.
