1984 Volkswagen Rabbit GTI Additional Info:
Here is the chance to get an unmodified original Rabbit GTI. I bought this GTI because I've had mk1's in the past and wanted to restore this one, but I don't see myself getting to it anytime soon because I have another car I'm working on currently. It runs well but I haven't driven it much futher then down the street the gearbox shifts well though first gear is a little hard to get into (adjustment). The interior is decent the drivers seat has an odd fabric but looks like it was done professionally. There are some things that need sorting like the fan blower motor doesn't seem to work and the radio isn't hooked up (I may sort these things if I get time). The exterior has some blemishes with the age. The door has creased dent in it I would recommend finding a replacement door (easiest solution). The car was a non sunroof rabbit but at somepoint it received a pop up sunroof and someone also has capped two holes in the roof (no clue why). The taillights are terribleI've been looking for stock replacments. The snowflake wheels are in ver nice condition and the tires are nice. There is some rust at the lower windshield gasket but it doesn't look that bad and could be repaired (common mk1 area). MK1 GTI's are getting tough to find and are becoming collectible this is a great project that with a little work can be really nice. The car is at my shop in Thurmont MD about 45min outside DC I can help with loading onto a transporter.
