1983 Adventure Wagon with 2.5 Subaru.
This is a beautiful van that runs and drives great.I bought it in 2011 and have basically rebuilt it. it has a 2.5 Subaru engine with about 50,000 miles on the bottom end, but only about 5000 on the totally rebuilt heads. A Small Car adaptor kit with all new stainless exhaust etc was used for the engine swap, which was professionally done by Pheaton Motorwerks in Durham, N.C.. The transmission was rebuilt about 5000 - 7500 miles ago, by Jeff Huber of Huber transmissions in Troutman, N.C., with taller 3rd and 4th gears for improved highway performance and fuel efficiency.
There are 2 issues with the van that I am aware of.
1. It has been retro fit with an aftermarket a/c system, which worked well through last summer. However, there are currently 3 leaks at hose fittings that will need to be custom made by an rv shop, or anyone with capacity to make custom lines. All of the parts, excluding the hoses, are in very good condition. The compressor is brand new.
2. the coach batteries are nearing the end of their functional life. They still hold a charge, but not like they used to...
Below is a list of what I've done to the van since purchasing it including approximate dates and mileage.
I have a ridiculous amount of money in it, but just need to sell it and move on with other things...
2011 - 2012, approx. 40,000 - 50,000 miles ago:
2015-2016,
2017,
new tires
There are some minor road chips in the paint and a few flaws with the interior from use.
It has no rust.
I would not hesitate to drive it across the country tomorrow.
I am selling it because of changes in my life. I have another van I can drive on the beach where I live and it does no good leaving it sit.
Thanks for looking!
