I am the owner of KOMBI KABINS (www.kombikabins.com) and up for auction is my legally imported, Nevada titled and registered 1992 VW Bus/Kombi/Combi also know as a T2c. I personally imported her from my home in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to my home in Lake Tahoe. I spent about a year and a half trying to find the perfect VW Bus in Mexico. After a few disappointing flights to Mexico City and other places around Mexico in search, I found her in Guadalajara.

I am the fourth owner.She has the original engine (water-cooled 1.8 L inline four-cylinder 53 kW (72 PS; 71 bhp carbureted engine, same as a Jetta) with 108,000 Miles (176,000kilometers) on her. I have extensive paperwork on her from the time she was born. Last year she starred in the latest photo shoot for our company product. Many of these photos are shown here. She has a few small chips in her paint but overall is in excellent condition. We drove her from Puerto Vallarta to Lake Tahoe without one single problem.This will make an excellent addition to someone's collection or a perfect daily driver. This is the only legally imported 1992 Mexcian VW Combi I am aware of in the USA. I am stopped by people everywhere I take her, everyone loves her and has lots of questions. She will, of course, come with one of our KOMBI KABINS and the handmade custom roof rack/ladder. Needs nothing mechanically. I would rate her an 8 inside and out. If you are considering buying a Mexican VW please do yourself a big favor and make sure that the vehicle has been registered and has a license plate from one of the 50 States. Otherwise you are very likely just buying a big expensive mistake. If someone wants to sell you a car with Mexican license plates then this is a HUGE red flag. Even if they say it has been "imported", there is a lot more to it!

HISTORY OF VW MEXICAN BUSES

T2 production began in 1970 at the Puebla assembly factory.

Offered initially only as a nine-passenger version called the Volkswagen Combi (Kombi in Brazil), and from 1973 also its cargo van version called the Volkswagen Panel, both variants were fitted with the 1.5 L air-cooled boxer engine and four-speed manual gearbox. In 1974, the 1.6 L 44 bhp (33 kW; 45 PS) boxer engine replaced the 1.5 previous one, and production continued this way up to 1987. In 1987, the water-cooled 1.8 L 85 bhp (63 kW; 86 PS) inline four-cylinder engine replaced the air-cooled 1.6 L. This new model is recognisable by its black grille (for its engine coolant radiator), bumpers and moldings.

The T2c, with a roof raised by about 10 cm (3.9 in) was built starting in the early 1990s for the Mexican, South American and Central American markets. Since 1991, the T2c has been built in México with the water-cooled 1.8 L inline four-cylinder 53 kW (72 PS; 71 bhp) carbureted engine—easily identified by the large, black front-mounted radiator—and since 1995 with the 1.6 L air-cooled engines for the Brazilian market.
