1972 VW Camper Van

1972 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Westfalia Additional Info:

Beautiful 1972 VW Westfalia Camper Van. I purchased this van and had the engine rebuilt, van painted, new tires, then took my girlfriend camping once and she refused unless I would buy a travel trailer with a shower so I did. The engine has electronic ignition, hydraulic lifters, dual carbs, new pistons and rings and a few other things: I've driven it a little less than 1000 miles since rebuild. Unlike most ofolder VWvans, this van has power and holds about 60 on hills. The van Also has a new tent top, new foldout cot, new front seat covers, and new carpet in rear. The rest of the interioris mostly original. I'll clean up the hanging wires, but they're mostly from the stereo and power amp that the guy before me put in, and that I never really learned how to use. The white VW logo on the front was attached temporarily for the pictures becauseI also have a larger chrome type front logo but couldn't decide which one I like best. I'll send both with the Van. I'm losing money on this, but would like to get this to an owner that will use and enjoy it. Like any 45 year old vehicle, it needs a few little things,and there is room for personal touches, but you will not find a more solid72 VW camper van for this price. You might ask why the front tire is not mounted on the front. Answer: I took that mount off when I had it painted because I like the front better with the logo, and the van already had a second place for a spare in the back.

After an extensive review, I've found all the external lights work except one back-up light is out. SEE THE VIDEOS. The windshield wipers and auto-cleaner spray are not turning on. There are a couple small tears in the rear vinyl pads and I took pics. The bottom of one pad has a bigger tear and stains, it was underneath in the first pictures. The ice (water) drain in the fridge is broken and would need repair. The new pics show under the front floor mats, and more underbody, and wheel wells on front wheels. THIS IS NOT A RUSTY VAN. The only Rust I find is around where the battery sits. No bubbling on paint, No rust under the paint.

On the front, I posted pictures because I'm not sure if the van is supposed to look like this or not, but there is a small raised area on both sides on the lower area. See under New Picture link.

I've been asked about the rubberaround the windows: On close inspection, I see some cracking and wear on the roll up windows, and some wear on the others. The front window is most worn, but functional.
