1970 VW Single Cab Truck

VIN: 2602076182

All original nice condition with a few under the hood upgrades! Runs great and fires right up every time! NO MAJOR RUST OR ROT! The truck does have light surface rust as seen in the pictures but nothing that steel wool won’t take right off. I do not sand light surface rust off because I am preserving the original paint.

This is a very rare, very special, great story, untouched, all original 1970 VW Single-Cab truck.

I am the second owner and still very good friend of the original owner. This VW was imported directly from Germany to a VW dealership in Pleasanton CA. The truck came from VW painted white and the dealership added the blue banner with the Volkswagen and “Genuine VW Parts” lettering. The dealership also painted “Parts Department - Pleasanton California” on the treasure chest doors! Yes, original paint from 1970. The plate behind the front seat indicates that this is a one-ton load capacity truck and I’ve done it more than once with hulling concrete for my backyard sidewalks.

The engine is all original German VW tins with a 4 year old 1776 engine. Everything about the engine is original other than the larger pistons and cylinders, and larger jets in the carbonator. The goal was to keep it 100% original but give it more power. The transaxle was rebuilt a few years back at the same time. Once again, 100% original VW but with a welded 3rd & 4th tall gear (freeway Flyer). End results is a stock look with a truck that does 70MPH nicely all day long! This truck is a dream candidate for total restoration or keep it as is (your call). Worth more every year - appreciating asset! Fantastic vintage truck & total eye turner. A quick trip to the hardware store takes 2 hours because everyone wants to talk to you about it! Drives the wife crazy! Ha Ha…. Totally on the fence if I want to sell it or not but decided to post it and see what happens. The truck has an 8’ bed & all 3 gates drop and can be driven that way! Includes a canvas top (I do not have the wood bows) for the bed and MANY extra parts / books / Tools!

PS. Yes, this single cab has pass-through locking treasure chest doors and the under bead compartment is in nice shape!

PSS. The holes in the rear tailgate are factory holes. VW had this designed so the gate can be down while driving and the brake lights still show.

Good Luck & Happy Bidding!
