1974 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon 7 Passenger Van Additional Info:
Hi, This is a beautiful 1974 VW Bus. I purchased this van in 2015 from the guy that restored it. He had completely gone through the bus replacing all the interior including upholstery, headliner, side panels, and rubber flooring. In addition the bus received a brand new Z-Bed that completely folds out to a queen sized bed for camping. All the glass was removed and the bus was then completely repainted inside and out. All new rubber was used when windows were replaced. At this time it received a brand new windshield as well. Mechanically the bus was sound when I purchased it. The previous owner had just installed a newly rebuilt transmission, battery, tires, and shocks.
Since I purchased it, I continued the restoration from the cosmetics to completely going through the mechanics of the bus. I pulled the engine and had a high end quality rebuild done on the motor by Ken Jansen of Jansen Enterprises in Belmont CA (look him up, considered one of the best VW engine builders in California). I had the displacement increased from 1800cc to 2000cc and replaced the single progressive carburetor with a brand new set of EMPI 40s as well as new exhaust. I went through the brakes and had brand new rotors, bearings, clutch, flywheel, and CV joints all installed. What you have now is a absolutely beautiful classic bus that runs as good as it looks. With the bigger engine it merges into traffic with ease and can pull hills without loosing speed. It starts easy regardless if it is cold or hot out. Accelerates super smooth with no flat spots or hesitation. Stops, steers, and shifts better than any bus I have ever driven.
Here is a summary of what has been done to this bus:
- New Interior 2015
- New Paint 2015
- New Rubber 2015
- New Windshield 2015
- New Tires 2015 (4,000 miles)
- New Shocks 2015
- Restored Gas Tank 2015
- New Ball Joints 2015
- Rebuilt Transmission 2015
- Engine High End Rebuild 2016 (increased to 2,000cc)
- New Clutch 2016
- New Brakes 2016
- New CV Joints 2016 I'm sure there's more... Just can't remember.
Bid with confidence that you will be purchasing a beautiful driver quality VW bus that you can reliably commute in style to work every day, and then load up with camping gear on the weekends or vacations and drive to the beach, the mountains or cross country.
