1971 Volkswagen Beetle-New Convertible Additional Info:
Here is a 1971 Volkswagen Super Beetle Convertible. This is a California car that runs and drives excellent! This Beetle was a put around summer car for the previous owner and his family who invested thousands in getting the car on the road, but then the engine died. So I purchased it and had the engine taken apart and rebuilt and also fixed more loose ends needing attention. This would make a great vehicle for having fun with this summer, just get in and drive! Please take a look at my condition report video above and give me a call if you have further questions. Thank you. Pete 949 2 8 5 – 8 0 1 1 Exterior wise, the paint is older and pretty tired, but looks decent when it is polished up as you see in the photos. Has it's fair share of chips, scratches, and dings. I would rate conditon about a 5 out of 10. The body is relatively straight. It is what it is, but I think it still looks cool in a nostalgic way and is perfecly fine to have a fun time with crusin! To each his own. The convertible top was replaced by the previous owner and is in excellent shape, this is a stayfast top, which would set you back about 2k installed. Seals around the top are in good shape as well. Headliner was done at the same time as top and looks good. Windshild has pretty good fish eye which isn't going anywhere. Original wheels and hubcaps look very good and tires are brand new all around. The interior is older aside from the carpeting which was just installed to clean things up a bit. Seats are comfortable and look decent but are far from new! Door panels look ok but not perfect or new. Dash has a crack or two. Has an older cassette player which actually sound decent when turned up. Original rear vew mirror is there and sun visors look new. All four window regulators are in good working shape and glass is all in good shape with exception of fish eye in windshield. Rear window in convertible top is in excellent shape and the seal is perfect. Mechanically, the car runs and drives excellent. This is the best part of this car is the mechanical condition. Not to say that it's perfect, but for a 46 year old car I would say it's pretty good! When I purched the car, the engine had a bearing that had gone bad. I paid my mechanic to take it apart and put in all new bearings and associated parts in the rebuild kit at the cost of $1200. Needless to say it runs excellent. Carburator was rebuilt previous to my ownership and gas tank and fuel system was treated before I bought it as well. My mechanic also replaced brake lines and added a new master cyliner as the older one wasn't that good. Prevouls owner put 4 tires on the Beetle and drove it about 2000 miles, so these are practiacally new tires and not very old. Also the electric system was gone over and all lights work as they should. The steering is good and the car drives good at high speeds as well as low speeds and handles like a bug should. The transmission shifts decent but will occasionally grind downshifting into second. Upshifing into 2nd it usually doesn't grind at all. Other than that, the clutch feels good. Passenger side undercarriage has a rust spot under the battery which is quite common on these. Has spare tire in the trunk as well. Trunk release cable is broken and will need a new relase cable if so desired.
