1966 Volkswagen Beetle 1300, Pigalle Edition in the very less common L41 Schwarz (Black). 129,000 original miles. Three owners since new. Originally sold in Colorado. Current owner purchased the car in 2001 from the second owner here in California with approximately 116,250 miles and has put less than 13,000 miles on it in 15 years as it was a dream of hers to have a '60s Beetle as a hobby car. Very clean, draws lots of attention and comments.
Original engine and transmission and 6-volt system; no major accidents. One rear fender possibly replaced. No rust. Drives strong and straight, with minimum rattles, no smoke, minor drip.
Seats, carpeting and headliner were redone with top quality OEM and /or reproduction parts staying as close to the original as possible. The red rubber mats are present and look OEM. Repaint in L41 Black some years ago, still shiny but there are flaws up close.
Original Blaupunkt radio present but disconnected. Kenwood CD player with remote installed in glove box with extra storage compartment and door speakers added. Other than those, nothing else has been modified.
Records going back to 1972 (not complete) and all original manuals and booklets, jack and tools, that came with car.
Cross seatbelts added to the front seats; lap belts in rear.
Newer radial tires.
Recent (end of June, 2016) $1800+ tune up and replacement parts (receipt included) including new: carburetor, generator, battery, fuel pump, spark plugs and wires, brakes including wheel cylinders, seals, shoes and hoses. Gas tank was cleaned and fuel lines replaced. Transmission serviced. Transmission pops out of first periodically, and grinds going in so probably needs a syncro. Completely driveable as is. Presently the flashers and the windshield washer are not working, everything else works as it should. The glove box door sticks in the closed position, needs adjustment.
Three keys, some spare parts and the iconic "How to Keep Your Volkswagen Alive" repair manual by John Muir, included.
A good, solid, original car that would take very little to make a cherry rare Pigalle Edition Beetle.
