1971 Volkswagen Type III Additional Info:

1971 volkswagon fast back type 3
33xxx original miles this car was bought new in Lexington Kentucky it sat for a number of years and was put back on the road in 1996 and had a small fire around the voltage regulator and melted about 3 foot of wiring harness going to the tail lights and generator and a little of the interior got hot and scorched rear seat cover and side panel
the car is now carburetor instead of fuel injection. if you know vw's thats a good thing.
fuel tank professionally cleaned and lined new fuel pump all rubber lines and new carb and intake boots.
4 new tires and rims were sand blasted and painted with dupont paint last fall.
2 new calipers and 2 wheel cylinders and all 4 rubber brake lines, shoes, pads and master cylinder.
new generator and voltage regulator but it is over charging @ 30+ volts so it is unhooked.
engine runs great and doesn't leak oil
fully automatic transmission put it in drive and go shifts out like it should.
the dash is somewhat disassembled glove box liner gauges and fuse box is loose. i re ran all the wires to the right tail light and it works the left tail light needs wired.
plan on replacing most of the bulbs and flashers where it charged so high for a min it blew most of the running light bulbs head lights. the circuits still test fine with a test light just bulbs died. i had the generator tested and the guy (set the field) and it works fine still just needs a new regulator. it will need a battery i will include a core battery. the electric part of the key switch is messed up and it is on a toggle switch/ push button
the car has a extremely solid pan the suspension and steering are tight all doors and body lines are nice. it had a small booboo on the drivers side quarter panel and back half of the door that needs work but door gaps and function is great. the right front fender and headlight bezel had some previous damage that was repaired and caused a rust issue 2 spots a credit card will cover.
these cars are super easy to work on and cheap on parts i would love to finish it but my wife passed away this july and this was our project. before this thing sits outside for years and rots down i need to sell it because i will never touch it with another tool now that my wife wont be by my side working on it. i am hoping by selling this car on ebay it will not be in my town where i have to see it driving around. that said if your here in Morgan county ky please don't bid on this car.
i encourage you to come drive the car, kick the tires, put it on the rack in the shop and walk around under it. bring your mechanic your body guy or heck even your drunk uncle Jeff !
i do own a licensed auto repair shop and the work has been done to the highest standards possible
this is no reserve 1st bid or highest bid owns it. it is a nice car with little effort and little money it will be a sweet ride. it must be towed but it will lot drive.
can deliver the car for a fee
$200 deposit to be paid to pay pal with in 24 hours. balance will have to be us postal money orders that will be cashed before the car leaves here or cash on pick up.
i will work with any serious buyer in any way i can just ask first.
i will take more pictures or answer any and all phone calls or questions.

the starting bid is very low for the quality of this car. it is worth more than that in parts.
