1967 Volkswagen Type 3 - Fastback with lots of extras. Not running…You’ve heard the story a thousand times, but here it goes; ran when parked. Yes, I hate that too, but it’s true. I was having starter solenoid problems, and way too much going on in my life with job, kids, moving, other cars… to give it attention. That was three years ago and it’s sat since and can hardly believe it because this was a favorite car of mine - my wife loved it too. It took me wherever I wanted to go with style and fun. Type III’s always attract attention and this Fastback was no exception.
Interior: Being a ’67 it has the one year only interior and I kept it original. Front seats were recovered to original, new carpet with padding was installed. Color Black. It comes with genuine VW type 3, black and gold jute mats and aftermarket bamboo storage tray. VW dealer installed gas heater too. Dash has one split and small cracks around speaker area, but looks clean. No rips in seats or headliner.
Motor: The motor and carbs are stock including the oil bath air cleaner and solex carbs. Tri- Mil Ceramic Exhaust.
Body and Chassis: Color is white but the original paint color is light blue and shows in hidden areas. Small bubbles around the drivers side headlight and it front of the passenger door. Extensive rust bubbles on rear trunk (see pic) - but have a straight, solid replacement trunk included. Pan is very clean. It’s lowered and sits on Genuine Porsche/VW gas burners - tires are in great shape. Including original wheels with beauty rings and caps - stock tires were nearly new when I added the gas burners.
Included in Sale: In addition to the Fastback, purchaser will get 3 bins full of rare Type III parts. Parts include a new Solex carb, a used solex carb, Hella headlight bezels, fuel pumps, Brake parts, Tail lamps, lenses, boxes of small parts, several ’67 only interior pieces, 2 - ’67 rear bumpers, 1- ’67 front bumper with fog lights, 4 stock wheels and a spare Type III engine block - pulled from a squareback I once owned. 3- repair manuals, and dual carb tuning tool…..
For those who attended the Texas VW classic in Fredericksburg 2007 - 2011 and San Jacinto Monument shows 2007 - 2013, you’ve probably seen it and perhaps met me. Always put the family in and drove it everywhere - never trailered. Shame on me for being lazy. I’m sure this will be a fun and easy project. Sad to let it go, but time for someone else to enjoy. I listed it on eBay three months ago and didn’t sell. My reserve was high because I was on the fence about selling, but still haven’t done anything with it.
Please fell free to send me questions and I will get back to you as quickly as I can. Good luck
