***UPDATE 2/28/2016 - SON WAS DRIVING IT HOME AND IT IS STUCK IN 4th Gear. As I say later in the ad we are not mechanical and I am not investing any more $$ in it. BID WITH full understanding. I lowered Reserve a lot.

READ THIS WHOLE DESCRIPTION - I HAVE PERFECT EBAY FEEDBACK BUT HAVE NEVER SOLD A CAR ON HERE. I WANT YOU TO PURCHASE EYES WIDE OPEN PLEASE. I AM ONLY USING EBAY DUE TO THE WIDE APPEAL OF SUCH A RARE CAR.

Here is my son's 1981 Dasher Diesel Wagon. As you can tell by the lack of these on EBAY they are very hard to find. We bought this car locally and have spent a good amount of money getting it to look like this. LET ME BE VERY CLEAR - THIS WAS NOT DONE BY A PROFESSIONAL - There is still RUST SPOTS, HE BODY STILL HAS WAVES and some dents. there is rust in areas under the hood (not shock towers.) ETC

THAT SAID - THE CAR DRAWS CROWDS. NO ONE HAS SEEN ONE. YOU WILL GET MORE THUMBS UP than you can imagine.

Not being a car guy (read mechanic) I am going to try and describe the car as accurately as possible. I may forget something so please just ask questions before bidding. I DONT WANT YOU TO BUY SOMETHING YOU REGRET. People ask about gas mileage but we really have not tracked it.

Here is the good:

• Engine runs excellent runs really well.
• New rims and tires 18X8 Rims
• NEW battery
• NOS Windshield (you will thank me - I drove 500 miles to a junk yard where they had this on the shelf for 8,975 days - That's 24 years - NO KIDDING)
• Major body work done by a professional - it had the normal rust in the deck lid and some big dings etc. There are still flaws and honestly some rust is starting to fight through in a few spots.
• NEW BMW ARCTIC WHITE paint. - looks sweet
• NEw stereo and Speakers

The Bad:

• Sticks in gear once in a while
• no carpet in it currently
• heat not working - Have new heater core but it is past my mechanical ability
• left rear door needs new locking mechanism
• really needs new door window gaskets (the things that go outside the windows in the door.) They are like $60 per door but again I am not sure how to fix.
• A few rust areas in engine bay
• rear springs are soft - too much weight in the backseat and the car will rub the tires
• It seems to have an exhaust leak near the manifold

Other than this I don't know what to say. If you are mechanically inclined, ove VW's and want something literally NO ONE has, ell let's make a deal. Reserve is LOW.
