1974 Triumph TR-6 Additional Info:
This car was purchased by current owner in April of 2014 on consignment from Mountjoys Auto (in Hyattsville, MD). I have the title and it is clean. From what I understand, they conducted all of the service on the vehicle for many years (including rebuilding the motor a few years ago). The car has been garage-kept since I've bought it. Here is some information about the car:
Engine - The engine is in great shape. In November 2014 and 2015, a full service was conducted. The oil and oil filter were changed, air filters changed, sparks changed, fuel filter changed as well as the alternator/fan belt (during last service). The engine is weeping some oil (pretty normal for British cars) but there are no noticeable issues with the engine. It starts quickly, runs smoothly, and has been trouble free since I've owned it. It has the original stromberg carbs and I haven't had any problems with them. There are some gaskets around the motor that probably need to be replaced - but nothing that needs to be addressed immediately.
Transmission - We also changed the transmission fluid when we did the regular service. The car shifts very smoothly, with the exception of second gear. It's my understanding the the second gear synchro could be getting worn out. The only time this is noticeable is when you try to shift into second at a high RPM's. I tend to be easy on it when driving and all the other gears shift very nicely. The clutch is fine and the clutch master and slave cylinder have been replaced this year (with help from Capital Triumph Register (CTR) members). As mentioned above, there are some gaskets that may need to be replaced.
Interior - I replaced most of the interior in 2014. It was replaced with new Shadow Blue carpet/interior panels (same color as original). The following was replaced: steering wheel, shift knob, all carpets, driver and passenger side door panels, kick panels, panels all around the back of the interior, switch plinth, switches, ash tray, side view mirror and rear view mirror. Also - the seats were cleaned and look very nice. They still have a lot of cushion and are pretty comfortable (believe it or not - that's one thing most people point out when in the car) but there is a tear on the driver's side seat. Everything (with maybe one or two exceptions) was purchased from Moss. The speedometer was recently rebuilt by Nisonger Instruments. The odometer reads 29K - but wasn't working when I purchased it. I am assuming it's been flipped over once.
Convertible - The car has a cloth convertible and is in good shape (minor wear in one area but hasn't leaked). You can see the wear on the top from inside the car (underneath). It also has a new convertible cover.
Exterior - The exterior is in fair/good shape. There is a ding on the top of the hood - but overall she is pretty straight for a 42 year old car! Not sure if the paint is original, but it's starting to show it's age, it is thin in some areas, especially on the hood(bonnet) where it gets the most sun. The car looks really nice when washed and waxed. There are one or two small areas where rust is showing (paint bubbling up) - but nonoticableproblem areas (floor pans and trunk rust free).
Accessories - The car has a luggage rack on the back. The heater core does not work and needs to be replaced (it was already disconnected when I bought it). The radio has been replaced with a retrosound radio and speakers.
Suspension/Handling - The front shocks have been replaced and the rear springs have been replaced (with help from CTR members). Trailing arms have been looked at and have no immediate issues/problems but some bushings could also be replaced.
Brakes - The brakes seem to work great, but the system is in need of being flushed and the e-brake should be looked at as the rear driver's side tire is showing some "brake dust".
Tires - The car has 4 P205/70R-15 Firestone Precision Touring SL tires (with whitewall exposed) that were purchased new in April of 2014.
I think that covers most of everything. I've included pics of the interior/exterior/engine. She may not win any car shows, but she turns a lot of heads and is an absolute blast to own. One of my favorite aspects of owning the car has been getting to know other Triumph owners and all the people who want to talk about the car.
