1980 Triumph TR8 Convertible finished in Poseidon Green Metallic with Tan Plaid interior. This rust free example with 32,398 miles (original speedometer was replaced on 7/17/82 showing 8442 miles plus 23,956 now on the replacement) spent the majority of its life in storage, in Texas and is mostly original. The body is straight with no signs of body filler and features a chrome and stainless luggage rack. There are several small scratches and two small dings on the left side and one 6” scratch on the right front fender arch. The paint is faded and shows signs of age. The interior features the original tan Tartan seats and door panels in excellent condition with slight fading on the top surfaces of the door cards. The dash top is in original condition and is entirely without cracks. After removing the original top and frame, the frame was stripped, repainted and fitted with new webbing and felt prior to installing a new premium tan Robbins convertible top. The original black top boot is also included. The clock and gas gauge are not working. A replacement AM/FM Blue tooth radio was installed. The original spare tire and wheel, which have never been on the ground, as well as the original jack, crank and lug wrench are also included. In preparation for sale a major service/update was performed which included replacement of the rear shock absorbers with KYB gas filled units as well as KYB front strut inserts. The entire ignition system was replaced including spark plugs (Champion N12Y), spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, ignition coil and a Pertronix electronic ignitor (LU 281) replaced the original problematic Lucas amplifier. Both air filters were replaced. The engine oil was drained and refilled with Castrol GTX 20W50 conventional motor oil and the filter was replaced with a Fram tough guard filter. Power steering system was drained, flushed and refilled with Penzoil power steering fluid and conditioner. Cooling system, which has an upgraded high performance all aluminum radiator was flushed and new anti-freeze/coolant installed. The brake and hydraulic clutch systems were flushed, and brake fluid was replaced with Valvoline synthetic DOT 3-4 fluid. The shifter mounting bushings were replaced. The manual 5 speed transmission was drained and refilled with 2 quarts of GM synthetic synchromesh manual transmission fluid and shifts smoothly. The differential was drained and refilled with Valvoline 75-90w gear lube. The vehicle starts, runs, drives and stops great and is a blast to drive!. The receiver/dryer for the AC system was replaced and the system was evacuated and recharged with R12 Freon. The original Catalytic converters were removed. The original document packet with Owner’s manual and maintenance manual is also included. Originally sold on 9/13/81 and then resold on 4/21/82 to the second owner who kept a meticulous record of all repairs and maintenance, including gasoline purchases with dates, mileage and cost per gallon. The journal is included with the sale. This excellent “daily driver” quality vehicle will be sold with a clean Georgia title and Bill of Sale.
