1972 Triumph TR 6 2D Additional Info:

This 1972 Triumph TR 6 is an original. The owner has had it for 3 years. The vehicle runs great and is mainly used for weekend drives.

Vehicle Details

This car is a true original last-of-the-hairy-chested-roadsters and drives like it is new. It tracks straight and tight, has great acceleration for having its original ZS carbs, and has overdrive when you decide to put it on the highway. According to the prior owner, this car was restored in 2014 by a Florida collector at an original mileage of 28,500. In the last eleven years it has been driven only 6000 miles. It now has slightly less than 34,500 miles, believed to be original.

This is what was done in 2014:Rebuilt engine, transmission (new clutch) w/ overdrive, suspension, brakes and steering; vehicle rewired; new fuel tank and lines; bare metal repaint in original British Racing Green; canvas cloth top, tonneau cover (both black) tan leather convertible top cover; carpets, seats and door panels renewed (show a bit of age but are in decent condition); new Sony digital multimedia system with behind-the-seats speaker box.

Since I bought in 2022 at Owls Head, standard maintenance includes a tune-up and two oil+filter changes, and at least two spark plug changeouts, one gas filter replacement.

Tires are good (Vredstein Sprint radials in 2021); original Zenith Stromberg carbs rebuilt 2025 by Apple in NY. Choke cables new in 2022.

New manifold gasket installed to alleviate air leak into Cyl 1 July 2025. Clutch slave cylinder also replaced and stainless hydraulic line installed.

Everything is operational. However, the hood release was removed in 2014 and replaced with chrome pins - much easier to access and does away with the problematic hood release cable and armature.

Two videos are available, a cold start being too long to load here, and a 30-second walkaround (see under photos).

Starts well, idles at 750RPM like it should.

Maine state inspection June 2025 good through next year.

Unfortunately I did not inherit any written records. I do have the original Owner's Manual, and a repair manual including a ZS repair guide.
