1970 Triumph TR5T Trophy 500 Additional Info:

1970 Triumph TR5T Trophy 500 The motorcycle you're looking at represents the swan song of the original Triumph company, based in Meriden, England. It is the last gasp of a company that had gone from world leader in the late 1950s and early 1960s, to financial insolvency by 1974. What a shame, considering this is perhaps one of the finest motorcycles ever produced by the British motorcycle industry. For consignment, a classic English built bike from 1970 in the form of a 11,925 title verified mile Triumph TR5T Trophy 500. This bike is adept as a trail bike and a road bike and nimble on both surfaces. It was completely restored in 2008 and since that time has a mere 290 miles clocked on it. Read on mates! Exterior Telescoping forks traverse a 19-inch wire spoked wheel wrapping a 3.25x9 rubber tire and a front drum brake. The forks end in the handlebars which reach for the rider and this is a feature known for the Triumph ride. All controls are working and within reach. As the rider looks down upon the circular sweep speedo they can see the large chrome bezel headlight in front of said speedo. Also, a bit lower is a chromed front fender. Moving our eyes downward, we can gaze upon the dual purple painted tank in a curvaceous structure and the chromed fuel filler cap. It sports the Triumph badge and looks great on all surfaces. A vented black leather punched seat with smooth bolsters has room enough for two, but the bike is known for riding better with one. Just below another chromed fender, and a swing arm with Girling shock absorbers and another drum brake within a wheel in wire showing as 18-inch form and nice deep tread rubber wrapping it in 4.00x18 size. Dual chrome exhaust are on each side and these have chromed seamless mufflers in the pipes. Cracking toast Grommit! Drivetrain The engine, which just gleams below the tank is nicely restored to original. It is a factory 490cc V-twin with an Amal 26mm concentric carburetor. There within is a drilled chromed air cleaner to filter the breeze entering the intake. The bike has a 4-speed transmission and is driven by a chain..if it don't break! "YOU'LL BE THE QUEEN OF MY HIGHWAY, MY MOTORCYCLE MAMMA, WE'LL SEE THE WORLD ON MY TRIUMPH"...unless I'm on it in the dirt, (you could say then if you can read them back of my T shirt the bitch fell off, BUT I didn't say that). This bike rides like a dream, ridden by our professional rider and I had to pry him off!! All working and all look great. Yes there are your Harley fans and they are ubiquitous. Now is your chance to own a true classic from across the pond from jolly old England and in the good years when all the previous problems were ironed out. Its purple, it's shiny, it's restored and it's ready to go and show, so hop on and turn the throttle. What's ya waitin' for me droogs?
