1948 Triumph TR1800 (18TR) Additional Info:

The Triumph 1800 was designed in the closing stages of World War 2 at around the time the Standard Motor Company took over Triumph. Standard's Sir John Black wanted a sports car to compete with the Jaguar and Harry Weslake redesigned the Standard side valve 4 cylinder engine as a 1776cc overhead valve unit. The hand welded steel frame was complemented by an aluminum panel body over an oak frame. It was sometimes known as a family convertible and was the last production vehicle with a rumble or dickey seat.
There were 2401 1800's built and only around 300 left Britain, many of them imported into the States by returning servicemen. Several were owned by the famous, including one by the exiled King of Greece in Texas and another by Jack Benny, which was transferred through Phil Harris to Tony Bennett.
This particular vehicle has been in Nebraska since 1993. Before being stored for the last few years it was frequently showed and driven almost daily.
New info - some interested parties tell me this has the later model, better engine, the 2 liter. The brass plate from the engine bay does say it is an 1800, so perhaps the engine has been changed, which is an improvement. The previous owner did not share this information, although there is other documentation, including the names of the prior owners.
