1980 Triumph Spitfire Chrome Additional Info:
Hello! I purchased this Triumph in 2005, enjoyed it for two years (driving only about 200 miles/year) and stored it in a climate-controlled storage facility after moving overseas. When I returned it was moved to my garage (also climate-controlled)...and I decided I wanted to update some things. Long story short- I've yet to commit to getting it back on the road, though I've replaced the head gasket, had a 4-1 header installed, replaced the carb with a new Weber, added an electric fan, and purchased a Pertronix electronic ignition. I also removed the seats, stripped and repainted (including a base coat of POR15) the frames, and removed the dash in order to fit a custom wood one. I really don't have the time to finish it, nor the garage space anymore, unfortunately...which is crushing. I'm not sure why I didn't just decide to keep driving it, rather than "update" everything!
The frame is in excellent shape, and the body is in very good shape, too. Original paint. Plastic bumper covers were replaced with chrome ones from an earlier-model Spitfire. The floor pans and areas prone to rust are solid; this car hasn't been exposed to moisture or the outside for quite awhile now. To my recollection, the top is in good order, and the rear window is clear- though I haven't had the top up for some time, either.
This won't take much to get it driving- new seat cushions or seats, dash install, Weber carb tuned. It's a fantastic little car that I've enjoyed very much!
