Up for sale is a 1965 Triumph Spitfire. This is a true auction with an opening bid of $1 and no reserve. I have a good title. VIN # FC77253. Mileage unknown. The prior owner took this Spitfire apart for restoration, but didn’t get much further than that. After it was taken apart it sat in the prior owner’s garage for many years. I saved this car from being crushed because it’s a solid base for a restoration, or as a vintage race car, or maybe a rat rod possibility. The main thing here is saving one more little British car from destruction.
It looks like the frame was cleaned and painted a long time ago, and it looks straight and undamaged, and is not rusty. The body is resting on the frame, but not bolted to it. There is rust repair at the bottom of the rear quarter panels, and the rear lower valance - there is bondo in these areas. There is bondo in the left door. The floors look pretty good overall, but show some repair. The inner and outer rocker panels are in pretty good shape, but there is surface rust. The trunk lid is in pretty good shape. There is minor surface rust in a number of places on the body.
This auction includes 2 bonnets. The extra bonnet is in pretty good condition with some minor surface rust. The bonnet on the car has rust through at the fender lips and some damage in the front and front left corner. Tires hold air, but have dry rot.
The engine turns freely, but I have no idea its condition.
The photos show all the parts that come with the car. What you see is what you get. All the parts and boxes fit inside the car, except for the extra bonnet. I do not know if all the parts are there or not, but there are a lot of parts. If you win this bid, bring a trailer to pick everything up. I will help load.
Auction does not include my trailer or cat.
