1979 Triumph Spitfire 1500.It was acquired through an eBay auction 10 years ago, four years after it had undergone a frame-off restoration (details below). The engine is the standard1,500cc four cylinder enginethat was just rebuilt (details below). In the resto it was fitted with a 2 barrel Weber carburetor. It is paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox with overdrive.
The 2004 resto, which is thoroughly documented by the previous owner, took the car from its original red to the current yellow.A Borg & Beck clutch and pressure plate installed. The rear end is fitted with adjustable Monroe air shocks.A host of other suspension and brake upgrades were performed. The car has a clean Ohio car title.
The yellow paint condition is shown up close in a number of photos. The door and trunk seals are in excellent condition. The vinyl convertible top is in excellent condition. The rear window plastic is transparent. This Spitfire has been stored during winters and driven primarily in summers.
The cabin has been outfitted with a pair of aftermarket seats and steering wheel. The passenger seat is in a fixed position, while the driver seat is on adjustable sliding seat brackets. The interior shows signs of wear, but is in respectable working condition. All the gauges and lights work. All the switches work, with a single exception; the wiper switch. The windscreen switch has been repaired, and despite its original appearance, has only the simple on-off function.
The totally rebuilt 1,500cc inline-four was re-installed in March this year, with no appreciable mileage since. The work was performed by a professional engine rebuild shop, and is of the highest quality. The engine, even sitting and stone cold, starts right up.The engine rebuild included but is not limited to: Head and block resurfacing, all new bearings, all new seals, new tappets, new cam shaft, and ARP head bolts
