Description
You are bidding on my 1972 Triumph TR6. Prior to my purchasing the car, it had been off the road for over 6 years. I flushed the gas and got the engine running again. The car runs quiet and strong, see video for test drive, but still needs some work in order to return it to a roadworthy condition.
There are a few small dents and minor rust on the body. The paint shines well, but it is a poor quality re-spray from an older restoration. The car presents its self very well. With minimal maintenance it could continue to be used as a daily driver for years to come.
The car runs and drives very well. I was told by the previous owner that the engine was rebuilt, but I don’t have any receipts to substantiate. Engine compression is 150 PSI on all cylinders. Oil pressure starts up at 85 and holds steady at 60lbs hot at idle. The transmission is tight and quiet in all gears. The clutch release bearing is noisy when the pedal is depressed and should be replaced. Suspension and steering is very solid with no rattles or wheel shimmy. The car has had some recent upgrades including new battery, alloy rims, starter, electronic ignition, rebuilt carburetors, master/ slave clutch cylinder and hoses. The body is in good condition. All panels are in good alignment, the floor pans are original and solid, there is no rot through on any sections of the frame. The body is in exceptionally structurally sound condition and any repairs were of decent quality and very little bondo was used.
The interior is in very good usable condition. There are no significant rips or tears on seats or the upholstery. The carpet has been replaced. The electrical accessories and gauges are in good working condition. The convertible top is complete, but has rips and hazy windows.
In my opinion, the highest priority repairs to be done before returning the car to service are: new tires, rear wheel cylinders, convertible top, clutch release bearing, repair turn signals and misc lights.
I have tried to include as many pictures to depict the true condition of the car. Please e-mail if you have specific questions. Please keep in mind that the car is 44 years old and although the car is in drive-able condition have realistic expectations for future repairs to remain reliable.
This car is being offered in a no reserve auction with a very modest starting price. Please email and I will promptly assist you with any questions you may have. Please read the good and bad in the description above. I will make myself available for anyone requesting a physical inspection.
