1964 Triumph Spitfire Additional Info:
This Original Black Plate California Car has resided in California all its life. Purchased new on April 20th, 1964 at Continental Car Imports in Culver City Ca by a Mr. Skinner, It ended up spending most of its life in Pasadena Ca then moved up to Northern California which is where we found the car in 2007After we purchased the car we stored it inside our garage for a future project, priorities have changed and its time for this car to move on. This 1964 MK1 Spitfire came with the optional "salt and pepper" carpet and kick panel on the door cards, some of the carpet remains mostly on the Gearbox cover area. The original Midnight Blue Seats are present but should be re-upholstered, the seat tracks do work but also have rust on them. Passenger side floor is in good shape with some slight rust, the drivers side floor does have some small rust holes in the front section and some surface rust on the rear section some parts have deeper pits than others. Rear cockpit panel is destroyed but present. The trunk area is very clean but does have a couple of small rust areas in the bottom of the rear valance. The rear driver's side fender also has some rust and would probably benefit from being replaced. Both the LH side and RH side Rocker have a small hole at the front but the RH side does look like it should be replaced. Doors are solid and work well with the early type exterior "turn down handles still working" Bonnet assembly is in very good condition as is the front valance. All Bumpers are present with the chrome being reasonable. We do not have the convertible top frame but there is an old AMCO convertible top in the trunk. We have changed the engine oil (Brad Penn high ZZDP) and filter along with the spark plugs, Ignition coil, air filters and fuel line (this was blocked solid from dried up gas) We also replaced the gas tank with a new item as again it was covered with gunk and grime inside. The car does run though we believe it is running lean as there is a slight delay when the throttle is depressed, I'm sure the carburetors would benefit from a rebuild. Oil in the transmission has been changed using the correct GL4 spec oil and all gears appear to work, rear differential has been topped up and the rear muffler has been replaced with a new Stainless steel item. Gauges do work along with lights and blinkers. If you are looking for an good example to do a body off restoration on, this is the car, I think it would be very hard to find a more original MK1 Spitfire that ins't rusted out. Car is sold as is with no warranty. Buyer is responsible for shipping.
