1963 Triumph TR4 -- Additional Info:
1963 Triumph TR4 ONE OWNER Original & Unrestored Many, Many Parts Vin # CT20590L Evolve Motors & Chicago Car Club are pleased to present this 1963 Triumph TR4! We picked up this ‘63 TR4 from a local gentleman who had owned it since new, having purchased the car off the showroom floor as a young man in 1963. He drove the car for many years, and it even still wears the University of Wisconsin 1968 parking permit on the rear bumper. Eventually the car fell into a state of disrepair, and he parked it. In the following years, the owner began accumulating parts for what he intended to be an eventual restoration of his beloved TR4. Unfortunately in his old age, the TR4 became more of a project than he was able to take on, so he sold us the car. The car will come with a number of parts and manuals, with the large majority of the parts labeled with a description and/or part number. As it sits, this car is an excellent candidate for a restoration. It is original, unmodified, running, and in good shape underneath. It is by no means a road-worthy driver, but it is running. As far as the condition of the car, the photos/videos speak for themselves really. The car has never been repainted, as confirmed with an elcometer (readings of 3.5-4.5 all around), though the paint is obviously beyond saving considering the extent of rust in the body panels. The car will come with two additional rust-free rear quarters, sills, front bumper, manuals, and what appears to be the overwhelming majority of the parts necessary to bring this car back into the limelight. The car does run, though currently off an external fuel jug. Clutch cylinder works well, and the car shifts with no grinding or tendencies of real concern (original non-overdrive trans). Brakes are ineffective and will need a master cylinder. Handbrake is functional. Underbody is in better shape than the body; frame rails and floors are totally solid, with no through rust anywhere. Dash, door panels, and gauges are in nice shape, seats will need to be replaced. A full set of dark grey carpeting will come with the car. Convertible top is in good shape. Overall, this is the perfect starting point for a restoration. For someone that is looking for an original, unmodified TR4 to rebuild, this is it. With its one-owner history, BRG over black colorway, and wire wheels, this TR4 has massive potential.
