I have been around Triumph TR7's since they were new. My first car was a TR7 and for many years I owned a 1980 TRIUMPH TR7 SPIDER that was the VTR national champion - thus I am well versed in these cars. The later cars, particularily the convertibles are the better cars. BETTER BUILT, BETTER RELIABILITY, AND BETTER VALUE. The car offered here is one of the last TRIUMPH TRs built being a 1981 model. The 1981 cars had the rare bosch fuel injection which provided excellent fuel economy and performance. The later cars also had a nicer interior of blue or tan suede as opposed to the "tacky" tartan plaid offerings of the earlier cars. A quick walk around this particular car shows it to be a good solid example. The car was nicely repainted some years ago in its original "silver leaf" metalic color - a color only offered on the last cars built. There is no evidence of any major accidents/damage in the cars past. All panel gaps are correct. The doors, bonnet, and trunk open & close smoothly. Everything works as it should. The "pop-up" headlamps perform properly. The interior is in nice condition for its age despite typical wear and tear. The carpets have been replaced within the last few years to keep things looking tidy and fresh. No noticeable cracks or broken plastic pieces. The convertible top works as it should and still has a few good years of service left. Mechanically the car has been upkept with newer gaskets and seals, overhauls as needed, and regular maintenance to keep it mechanically 100%. The 2.0 liter overhead cam 4-cylinder engine starts at the turn of the key and runs flawlessly. The clutch operates effortlessly as the 5-speed manual transmission shifts smoothly through all of the gears. If you have been looking for an honest Triumph TR7 convertible, then this may be the right car for you. The boot cover for when the top is down and a car cover are in the trunk. I just noticed the hood was popped open when I took the photos. Call 908-788-1982 for further details or check us out at jagshop.com
