Evolve Motors is pleased to present our gorgeous 1960 Triumph TR3A.
Originally delivered in California (as identified by firewall tag STC-61), he car spent the better part of its life on the west coast. We have complete documentation that has followed the car almost since new. At some point, rior to restoration, he owner moved to Minnesota and the title was transferred to Minnesota. The car was back to California in 1992 with its owner and that is where it was restored. The titles was transferred back to California with the same owner and that is where the car was up until 2004 when it made its way back to Minnesota to the garage where it has sat since. The 27k miles is accurate as we can confirm with all the records on file. We show the car with 22,358 Miles in 1983 on the California registration. Furthermore in 1991 it showed 25,723 Miles and in As was the case with most Triumphs of this era, his cars title denotes a 1961 while the vin tag decodes as a 1960. Technically the car is a 1960 however, ince it was sold in 1961 it is title as such and accompanied by the firewall tag STC-61. We were pleased to find this car for a number of reasons. First and foremost because its California life shines through everywhere. It is extremely dry and one of the most solid TR3's we have laid eyes on. The sills, irewall, runk and spare tire compartment are surprisingly solid and free from rust issues. This supporting its proper storage in Minnesota as we expected. This late prodcution TR3a has its original motor in tact and in good running condition. We spent a good amount of time and money getting the mechanicals sorted and turning it into an excellent runner and driver. As you can see in the pictures, e had our reputable techs at the Sports Car Store spend a bunch of time dialing this TR3 in all around.
The body, s you can see, hows like a true California native. We believe it was restored in the mid-90s however it wasn't completely reassembled until we got our hands on it. This tell us that, onsistent with what the owner told us, he car sat in the garage of his house collecting dust for last number of years. We were quite pleased with how the car cleaned up and because of its overall condition we elected to leave it the way we found it. It truly is a stunner and shows nice and straight. We note the quality of the globe wheel centres. We refinished all 4 of the wheels in black and it really sets the car off nicely. As you can see we do have the original boot cover, ide curtains (in need of recovering and sliders), pare tire and wheel, riginal dzus key, op frame and covering. The car has add-on side glass deflectors which really look nice and function well. Inward the interior is well in tact and extra clean. We had a full carpet kit professionally installed along with new door panels. The dash shows the perfect amount of patina and all gauges function properly. The original turn signal and horn trafficator is in place and functional which is mounted to the original steering wheel. The seats are in excellent condition, ree from wear and damage, urther supporting its days spent indoors.
It has normal blemishes as we detailed in the pictures. Our digital paint gauge tells us that the rockers are original and solid, ree of rust and not covered in filler. We also not that the trunk panels and seams all show nice and dry. Under the hood we not the quality of the firewall as well as the bottom of the battery tray. Making our way around the rest of the car we detect some repair spots on the fenders and quarters that were addressed when restored. We do not detect and impact sites or structural repair areas. The body shows quite nicely and has normal blemishes as you would expect from a car sitting in a garage. Please view all pictures as we have done our very best to disclose everything properly.
Under the hood sits the original engine in great condition with original ignition system and wiring. We serviced the car mechanically and restored many of the systems including the original heater core, hich is in good working order. The cars were rebuilt along with a laundry list of other service items (see above). The engine compartment shows very nicely, ry and clean. The wiring is all properly routed and shows brilliantly.
The underside of the car is fantastic as you can see. It has solid pans, traight rails, nd nice body mounts. The underside shows the true quality of this time capsule.
The car runs and drives wonderfully and all lights and indicators work properly. We note that the trafficator, hile working, oes not hold its position so we manually move it as needed. The car tracks nice and straight and stops straight as well. The new exhaust system sounds fantastic. We note a common 1st gear and reverse noise, ndicative of a tooth burr or chip. We elected to change the fluids and service it rather than rebuild as this is a common occurrence. We do believe this to be the original gearbox as indicated by the stamps on the side of the housing. 2N, rd, nd 4th gear are as quiet and smooth as you would expect. Overall this is a wonderful driver that is an absolute blast to sprint around in.
This is a unique opportunity to own such a well documented and well situated TR3a with much originality and provenance. Please call to hear more! 773-267-2684
