1988 Toyota Other Additional Info:
PICKUP MODIFIED WITH ELECTRIC CONVERSION KIT . * This is a home built electric conversion of a 1988 2wd Toyota truck. The combustion engine was removed, and the electric motor attached to the pre-existing 5-speed manual transmission and clutch. The motor and controller will run on 96V to 144V dc supply. The photos show 20 deep cycle lead acid batteries and one 12V aux battery, but these are all at the end of their useful life, so BATTERIES ARE NOT INCLUDED In this sale and WILL BE REMOVED before delivery. The interior of the truck is satisfactory for its age, but it has no radio and it has holes in the doors where the speakers go. The rest of the electrics all work (lights, blinkers, horn, hazards, backup light, wipers, windscreen wash, blower, clock). There is a ceramic heater installed over a blower vent to help demist the windscreen. In addition, there is a 125V voltmeter and a 500A ammeter to monitor the traction batteries, and a 15V voltmeter to monitor the auxiliary battery. The flat-bed and side panels are made from ½ inch plywood. Two sections of the flat-bed are easily removed to access the battery compartment. The rear lights are LEDs. The brakes have electric vacuum assist. The rear suspension was upgraded with 2 extra leaves each side. The rear shocks are new. The spare wheel is mounted above the rear axle. This truck has only marginal performance with the current (very heavy 1400 lb) lead acid battery pack. It is slow to accelerate to higher speeds, and very slow up hill. A switch to Lithium Ion would help a lot. This vehicle is registered as an electric vehicle in the State of Washington. It is mostly garaged, and done only about 500 miles since conversion. I live in a very hilly area – not very suitable for this vehicle, so I need to sell it now. Parts installed for the electric conversion are as follows: Advanced DC Motors FB1-4001 9” fan Electro Automotive clutched adapter plate Curtis 1231c controller (96-144V, 500amp) Curtis PB-6 Potbox Albright SW200 contactor Breaker and Fuse 500A Thomas vacuum pump for brakes. Custom Flat-Bed with lockable battery access, wheel guards and LED lighting. Custom battery cages in rear chasis (16 spaces) and under the hood (4 spaces) Rear suspension: reinforced w/ 4 extra leafs, 2 extra on each side. DC to DC converter: CC power Electronics C400 120v to 12v 400 watt A conversion kit like this costs about $8000 new excluding the batteries. So get this one already installed for a whole lot less! Buyer is responsible for vehicle pick up or shipping. Payment is Paypal, cash in person or cashier’s check from a local bank. Good luck and thanks for looking.
