For sale here is a one owner 1979 Toyota Celica ST Coupe with a 5-speed manual transmission, power steering (no ac), new tires, all original (except the engine and the radio, per below), excellent overall condition, starts & runs, fun to drive and attracts compliments from onlookers. The tires were replaced with a set of new Advanta P185 70R 14's, which have virtually no miles on them. This sports car has been improved mechanically, most notably with a used, high-quality, low mileage replacement engine, identical to the original engine, a 2.2 Liter 20R Four Cylinder. When the engine was replaced, the same local Des Moines auto repair shop replaced many other parts, including a new distributor, new spark plugs/wiring, new belts/hoses, a new exhaust pipe & muffler, a new gas tank and a new gas pump. The brake master cylinders and brake fluid have been replaced more recently. The dashboard guages, the clock and the wipers work. The newer AM/FM radio/cassette player (Clarion brand) works. The body was repainted with the same original red color & with the original orange stripes one time in about 1990, therefore the car could now use another new paint job, although it still does look ok (please refer to the 40 pictures here). Just now in March 2026, the Celica was serviced by both Freedom Tire Auto Center of West Des Moines & All Pro Service Center of West Des Moines (All Pro, locally owned, many locations, outstanding service), which included a new battery, oil/filter, electrical system check, tighten hose clamps as needed, fill fluid levels, the two overall checkups by the two service centers and more, per the two invoices at the end of the photos here.
