1971 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 - Yellow with Gray Interior Fully Restored Classic

1971 Toyota Land Cruiser Additional Info:

This 1971 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 was acquired in 2023 following a refurbishment completed in Colombia approximately two years earlier. Work included a repaint in Yellow, replacing the soft top and exterior trim elements, refreshing the cabin, with air conditioning and overhauling the 3.9-liter inline-six and the three-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a rear-mounted spare wheel and tire, manual locking front hubs, inward-facing rear bench seats, vinyl upholstery and 15″ steel wheel with oversized tires.

Since taking ownership, Old Man Emu Steering Stabilizers were installed, center steering arm and steering knuckles and housing were replaced and rebuilt to improve steering control. Brand new manual locking hubs were installed as well, followed by a full alignment. Both door handles were replaced in 2024, as well as brand new LED dual beam headlights were installed to allow safer night driving. The brake fluid was flushed in summer of 2023 and the master cylinder repainted. Exhaust hanger was replaced and a recent oil change completed to prepare it for the next owner. This FJ40 is now offered with a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.

Known issues:

• During alignment in December of 2023, the shop performed a hand measured and laser measured alignment and found the rear axle to be bent. They described the issues with the bent axle to be the left rear wheel is toeing out and the right rear is toeing in, which will cause the vehicle to track sideways (dogtrack) while driving straight. We have felt this at higher speeds and the shop said they believed it could just be re-straightened over being replaced.
• There is a small paint chip on the passenger rear panel
• One of the belts does squeak upon start up, but it is because the AC system is on the same belt. If you turn on the AC, its stops squeaking.
