.

I am this1982 Toyota FJ40 4WD Land Cruiser's3rd owner and owned it myself overseas in a warm climate prior to importing it to the U.S. This car has no issues passing inspections and is registered with personalized plates in Austin, Texas. Love this car, but one kid headed to college and wife won't let me keep too many cars. My sad reality; anyway, I'd love for this car to go to a very nice and caring home (smile).

(ON ITS LOOKS) I had it painted black matte to bring up a sharp contrast against the beige soft top. I lived in a warm climate so car was not exposed to humidity or winter conditions. Very solid rollover bar in place with three-point (3P) seat belts throughout for all seating. Captain chairs in front with adapted “Prado” forward facing 3-person capacity seats in the rear bed. In 2022, re-upholstered all seats black sueded fabric (ping me for more pictures). I keep seat covers on to keep upholstery in pristine form. Chassis in great condition; no rust damage in the cabin or flooring, nor around body of vehicle that I can see. New Rugcel 13500LP capacity winch that comes with 3 remotes (1 wired and 2 wireless). 14in LED light bar and two rectangular spot LED fog lights (6x4in) each, all LEDs offer white and yellow lighting (each LED has 4 settings for still and emergency flashing). The stereo system has multiple settings including Bluetooth, four6in round speakers in interior perimeter, and a foldable 6in touch screen that pops in/out optionally. Fully functional electric windows. Two interior lights(one original for the side of the driver and a new LED in middle, after market, for practical usability). All doors and hood open and close without hassle and solidly. All 4 all-terrain tires in great condition still – full size spare tire in back too. 15in custom, black wheels, with locking wheel lug nuts all around. Towing hitch enabled. No rear fender, but a nice and solid partial front bumper brush guard. And a kill-switch, strategically placed, to prevent theft.

(ON ITS OPERATIONS) Well maintained; a couple of accelerator pedal presses and car starts easily and runs strongly (no smoke, unless you let car sit for over a month without starting it). Its Gasoline 4.2L in-line 6 engine runs well. All switches and lights in the cabin work including the red light for emergency brake and the red light to signal ignition. Speedometer and all panel instrument indicators work and have been tuned properly to read accurately for oil pressure, water temperature, and amperage draw. 4 speed manual transmission, 4WD with high and low 4WD selections, and dual range transfer case offer smooth gear shifting -Clutch inspected in last 2 years and all in great working condition. Good snorkel flow, new carburetor, upgraded alternator, new distributor and new distributor wiring, new battery, new fan belt, new radiator hoses, and new windshield wiper fluid container and radiator overflow. Re-did entire brake system 2yrs back with new pads, new power drums, etc. (no disk brakes though). All braking function is normal including a tight emergency brake, with no roll-back risk.

(THE NOT AS GOOD) This is a 42-year classic, family-owned, so it has aged reasonably without any need for restoration. I try to refuel once I see the gas meter below mid-tank levels, but all works well - just me to ensure higher performance. I ran over the original gas cap too so the lever one holds with three-fingers requires more intentional holding. There are paint chips around, but nothing huge and I have not done touch-ups, but I do have touch-up paint for it and I can make available to you. No water leakage from the soft top, but there are 3 small patches on the soft top (1 internally and 2 externally - will share pictures). Some parts of the soft top are weathered with dirty kid finger prints, or the occasional grease spots from removing the top and reinstalling it (not too distracting, but there). Three snaps in perimeter of soft top will need to be replaced. Last, the wipers pull-button has a burn in the plastic and I cannot tell how it happened (button could be replaced, but not an issue functionally). Driving this car is truly fun for the whole family besides my greatest joy, but you will smell a few engine aromas making it a true original experience. As far as the undercarriage goes, normal wear and tear. (happy to share other pictures offline too). No material rust and spring suspension (or structural integrity) has never been a question with any mechanic to date. That said, I welcome your taking a look at the undercarriage as needed (ping me for pictures if/as desired).
