1971 Toyota Land Cruiser
The founder of Toyota Motor Corp. was Kiichiro Toyoda, who wrote in the July 1941 issue of the magazine Hanjidosha, "Era of the complete domestically-built car" subtitled "When will Japan produce one?" in which he expressed his dream and determination to produce a car fully made in Japan, just as Ford and Chevrolet did in America. As criteria for a car for the people he listed low price, high-performance, and economy, and discussed the technical issues behind these. The car that first fulfilled the dream like the established world automakers was the Land Cruiser. Moreover, the Land Cruiser led Toyota's drive into world markets, taking the all-important first step.
For consignment a beautifully restored and upgraded 1971 Land Cruiser. Sporting a soft top and a lifted body, this truck will go almost anywhere you need to go, in any weather conditions. If you are looking for a great 4x4 with reliability, take serious consideration to this vehicle, as it is in very good condition, runs beautifully, and is very sound overall on all fronts. "Climb every mountain...."
Exterior
All body panels are bathed in dark red, excepting grille, which has been painted the iconic white. A black canvas convertible top has been draped over an all welded 6 point roll cage with front shoulder belts. New BF Goodrich 12.5 x 35-15 all terrain tires wrap Mickey Thompson 15" aluminum wheels. This unit is equipped with heavy duty bumpers, front with a Warn winch, and rear with a swing away spare tire and jack mount. A color matching jack is included with this very straight and good gapped panel go anywhere truck. Way back has dual swinging from the center doors for access to the cargo area.
Interior
Starting with a black Rhino lined floor, and moving up to new seats, we see a professionally restored color matching dash with a white gauge cluster. A center console was re-constructed, and an original heater fronts the dual gear shifters. A new CD/Stereo/Radio unit has been installed, and waterproofed sub-woofer put in the rear seating area. Matching painted straight metal no covering, door panels adorn both doors.
Drivetrain
A flip of the hood reveals a pristine engine bay and sitting proudly within is a rebuilt 1969-70 era 350ci Chevrolet mill dressed in traditional Chevy Orange. An Edelbrock intake and carburetor, and HEI ignition is noted too. Strapped to the back is a rebuilt Turbo 350 transmission which can be operated with a stick style shifter that has a button atop for gear selection.
Undercarriage
Factory frame, transfer case and axles make up the driveline, and are painted black. A 4" lift was performed for better ground clearance.
Drive-Ability
Fires right up and we went for an expedition...to our test track here at CAM where it performed very nicely and passed all inspections with flying colors...actually just red and black!
Consigner states that only 6,629 miles have been logged since the rebuild, and it shows very nicely as such. A smooth runner, great 4x4 power, and a rebuilt engine and transmission.... be ready to get a little mud on the tires!
