1989 Toyota FJ62 Landcruiser… Original unmodified classic 4x4 from the late 80’s which was one of the last years they made this classic beauty. Great shape in all original trim for the year with NO rust being from New Mexico and Arizona all its life (except for an oddball 2” piece of surface rust below the rear window on the liftgate). Has a few 30 year old bumps and scratches on its original 2 tone paint which has its clear coat peeling on top and on the hood. Many new parts and some other parts included.
Everything works as it should… Cold AC, all the power windows, 4x4, etc.. Runs and drives like it should, motor sounds great and the automatic transmission shifts perfectly. I was told by some friends that specialize in Landcruisers in Texas that it is valued as a solid B+ daily driver as it is not beat up and is all original with virtually no rust. These FJ’s in A and up condition are worth in the neighborhood of $25000 and up. I will continue to drive it daily until sold. I am the 2nd owner, bought it in 2005.
New or unique Items:
Wheels and tires are like brand new
New 850cca battery from Costco (biggest that will fit in it!)
New liftgate supports
New front and rear brakes
Aftermarket CD/AM/FM stereo with upgraded speakers
All new belts
Ice cold AC (R12 still!)
All door locks and windows work great
Automatic trans with the workhorse 4.0 straight 6 engine
281,000 well cared for miles by an adult that did not beat it up.
Needs:
Small surface rust spot sanded and painted
Ball joint replaced (I have the parts)
Windshield is cracked, thought about waiting on that and having the clearcoat paint repaired first, then the windshield replaced.
Drivers seat is torn a slight bit when you slide in
Tail pipe has a few holes from all the condensation in the exhaust for almost 30 years
Rear main seal on the engine leaks of course with the age and miles…
Shocks and leaf springs are old so they could stand an upgrade..
